To ensure seamless performance you can configure exclusions to be applied during a virus scan, for example if you don\u2019t want to spend time scanning programs or folders that are unquestionably safe. In this case, you can create an exclusion rule for those items:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the application\u2019s main window click the <b>Settings<\/b> link and select the <b>Additional<\/b> section in the left-hand sidebar.<\/li>\n<li>In the right part of the window go to <b>Threats and Exclusions<\/b>,<b> <\/b>then click the <b>Configure exclusions rules<\/b> in the <b>Exclusions <\/b>section<b>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li>In the window that appears next, click <b>Add<\/b> and use the <b>Browse<\/b> button in the <b>Add new exclusion window. <\/b>Choose the files and folders you want the rule to apply to during the scan:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/86\/2013\/09\/05192102\/kis_scanner-1024x499.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-2753\" alt=\"kis_scanner\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/86\/2013\/09\/05192102\/kis_scanner-1024x499.jpg\" width=\"916\" height=\"447\"><\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Choose protection components that will use the rule. If you want to skip items during all types of scan, select all check boxes.<\/li>\n<li>In the <b>Status<\/b> section you can choose the rule status:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\u2013 <b>Active<\/b> (the files and folders will be excluded from the scan according to the rule).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\u2013 <b>Inactive<\/b> (the files and folders will be scanned in spite of the rule).<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Click <b>Add<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Congratulations! You have successfully added an exclusion rule.
