Cambridge, UK, May 30, 2000 - Kaspersky Lab Int., a fast-growing international anti-virus software development company, announces the discovery of the new Internet-worm FireBurn "in-the-wild," which is a new variation of the infamous ILOVEYOU virus.

"During the last month, the vogue in creating new variations on the "ILOVEYOU" virus has not gone out, but is even entering a new stage of popularity," stated Eugene Kaspersky, Head of Anti-Virus Research at Kaspersky Lab. "At the beginning of May, we introduced a new unique universal antidote for this type of malware known as the Kaspersky Anti-Virus (AVP) Script Checker. Its powerful ability to combat the "ILOVEYOU"-style viruses neutralizes the dangers they carry, leaving vulnerable only those computers that have not yet been installed with the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Script Checker."

The worm is successfully detected and automatically blocked by the unique script virus interceptor and heuristic analyser, Kaspersky Anti-Virus Script Checker, without any additional updates needed. To remove the virus from infected systems, Kaspersky Lab has issued an emergency update to the AVP anti-virus database, which is available at the Kaspersky Lab web site: http://www.kasperskylab.ru/eng/products/download.asp

You can purchase a fully functional version of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus, either by contacting your local distributor or online via the Internet.
