23 October 2013

Security vendor looks towards ecommerce platform to enhance distribution as part of ongoing UK strategy review

Kaspersky Lab today announced it has entered into partnership with Tech Data as part of an ongoing review of its distribution channel in the UK.

The security vendor has added Tech Data to its list of approved distributors for the B2C market, with the aim of taking advantage of the immediate distribution opportunities available through TD Activate-here – the distributor’s online electronic software distribution service.

Under the new agreement, Tech Data will offer Kaspersky’s consumer security products as part of its core IT security portfolio. This includes top rated security software, Kaspersky Internet Security and Kaspersky PURE 3.0 Total Security. All products will ultimately be available through Tech Data’s TD Activate-here ecommerce service, which consists of a white-labelled web portal and a set of back-office processes, enabling Kaspersky channel partners to provide easy software activation for a wide range of software packages.

“At Kaspersky Lab, we are continually looking at ways to improve our distribution strategy and ensure we are at the forefront of software license delivery. The software industry is developing quickly and we need to work with partners who can keep up with the changing requirements of the channel”, said Lee Sharrocks, UK Sales and Marketing Director, Consumer, Kaspersky Lab. “The distribution opportunities provided by the TD Activate-here platform, combined with the experience and reputation that Tech Data has in its field, will prove to be invaluable to both our customers and channel partners, and help to expand the availability of our products across the UK.”

This appointment comes following Kaspersky Lab’s launch of the latest edition of its consumer security product, Kaspersky Internet Security Multi Device, which recognises consumers increasing need to protect all their devices, wherever they are, and will provide a full range of protection for PCs, Macs, tablets and smartphones. The simple, flexible security software boasts an array of features optimized for each device, including online banking and shopping security, password management and online backup. All of which can be accessed via an easy-to-use interface to maximise protection, convencience and performance.

James Reed, Director of PC Systems and Software, UK and Ireland at Tech Data, said: “This new partnership with Kasperksy Lab gives our customers access to a comprehensive protection suite and strengthens our existing security portfolio. It will also reinforce the value that electronic distribution can deliver, giving Kaspersky resellers the ability to offer the company’s consumer products for immediate deployment and use through TD Activate-here. It is imperative that we offer security solutions that can protect consumers from the growing number of digital threats and this partnership is an important part of our plans for 2013.”
